New Face, New Places

With new friendships on the horizon, Promise began focusing her attention towards finding a permanent career. She spent week after week trying new jobs and studying new skills, but couldn’t find one that fit her heart, mind, and soul. Promise wasn’t discouraged by her lack of employment, actually she was quite pleased. She loved the thrill each new job brought, and looked forward to searching the want ads everyday.
Promise Studying

Weeks passed and Promise began to lose touch with her friend Remington. She didn’t want to lose his friendship, so she took a much needed break from the job hunt and invited Remington over to spend the day with her. Promise had great expectations for their date; however, the day didn’t go completely as planned. They became the best of friends. Unfortunately, the romantic chemistry Promise hoped for wasn’t there. Promise enjoyed spending quality time with Remington, but she didn’t want anything more than friendship. Remington, however, was infatuated with Promise and was determined to stay a main part of her life.
Remington Calling

Since her love life was in a slump, she decided to throw herself into her work. She continued to try job after job and worked hard towards educating herself. Unfortunately, with all the work she was doing, she was left with little time to do the day-to-day chores. Her refrigerator quickly ran low on food, so after a long night of grueling work, she called the local grocery store and ordered a basket of groceries. Twenty-five minutes later, her doorbell rang and there stood a tall, dark stranger holding her basket. Promise was tongue-tied when she opened the door and got her first glimpse of Mitch Wolosenko. She could barely speak, but was able to utter her name and phone number. That night, Promise drifted to sleep with wedding bells clanging in her head.

A New Beginning

The next morning, Promise awoke to see the sunrise over her new home. She was ecstatic about her life, but knew that she had to start looking for a job to pay the bills. Unfortunately, there was nothing available that struck her fancy, so she took odd jobs here and there while she continued to look for her “calling”.

Temporary Job

Returning home late from work that night, Promise found herself starved, but had no energy left to cook dinner. So, she picked up the phone and ordered a pizza from one of the local pizzerias. Within twenty minutes, there was a hot pizza and a cute delivery man waiting on her doorstep. Promise was immediately drawn in by the man’s warm and inviting smile. She began introducing herself and discussing mundane topics with him, before he could even ask for her payment. Unfortunately, Promise wasn’t able to spend much quality time with her new “friend” before he had to return to work. She was able to get his name before he left and she promised that she would call him later.
Meeting Remington

Hours passed slowly that evening, and before Promise could stop herself, she picked up the phone and called Remington London. Promise was shocked and thrilled when he answered the pizzeria’s telephone, this time she kept her cool and they discussed world events the entire night. When she hung up the phone, she was smiling so wide her cheeks hurt, but the pain was worth it. Promise had made her first friend in Goldton Village.

The Escape
Posted in: Legacy Story

Promise sat softly crying into her water glass the night before her wedding. As she looked into the mirror, she no longer recognized the woman starring back at her. This wasn’t the life she wanted. She hated Walter, the man her father had promised her to, but she didn’t want to let her father down. Her entire life had been spent trying to earn his love; however, as she sat there sniffling back the tears she realized, she would never “earn” a place in his heart. I shouldn’t have to “earn” my place anywhere, she thought to herself. So, the night before her wedding, she decided to run. To run, and start the life she wanted to lead.

Close-up of Promise
Promise begins her new journey alone, penniless, but exuberated. She knows she is going to have a rough road ahead of her, but she is giddy at the thought of all the new adventures she will find. Taking train after train leaves her weary, but she regains her strength once she sees the “Welcome to Goldton” sign.
“My new home,” she whispers to herself.

Goldton is nothing like the town Promise grew up in. Sage Gardens was a lush, green city with mansions on every corner, each completing for title of “Most Beautiful Home”. Goldton, however, was a dessert community, with small, compact homes. Promise loved every inch of her new surroundings.

Home Sweet Home

Promise began to roam around the village that she planned to call home; when she found a peculiar little house. This quaint, two-room home was built smack in the middle of a huge parcel of land. Promise knew instantly that this was the home for her.

She ran around to the front of the home, and to her amazement, the quaint cottage was for sale. Promise wasted no time; she ran to the nearest phone booth and called the owner. After hours of haggling, Promise, was the proud owner of the little house. She had little money left over after buying the house, but she was able to purchase a few amenities to make the house more comfortable. Promise didn’t care about material items anymore; she was just happy to be away from her father and on her own.

*New Beginnings* A Legacy Challenge

“A young woman, cast aside by her tyrannical father, steals her inheritance and tries to make a life for herself.”

Born the middle daughter to business mogul Quentin Lords, Promise quickly earned the disdain of her father. Quentin longed for a male heir to carry on his legacy, but his wife Emily continued to give him daughters. Tulip, Promise’s older sister, learned to become the “son” Quentin never had. She attended the best prep schools, business schools, and in her spare time interned for the company. Tulip was groomed to take over as CEO after her father retired and she made their father even happier, the day she birthed a grandson. (Finally Quentin had the “son” he had longed for.)

Promise and her younger sister were cast aside. Chastity, the youngest daughter, was a wild child and was sent to a Swiss boarding school at a young age. Neither Tulip nor Promise had much contact with her after she left. Promise kept up the appearance of the devoted daughter. She attended the schools her father enrolled her in, was friends with the children her father picked for her, and became betrothed to the man her father choose.
