Growth
Posted in: A Legacy Story

Promise and Mitch were immersed in parenthood and they worked diligently to provide a loving, stable home for Heart. With such devoted parents, baby Heart flourished and quickly grew into an active, intelligent toddler.
Heart as a Toddler

Unfortunately, neither Mitch or Promise were able to stay home everyday, so they finally had to hire some help to take care of Heart and the house. Promise had been avoiding this step, but could no longer delay it and found herself less stressed now that she wasn’t worried about trivial household chores.

Heart was still top priority to her parents and both spent hours playing games and reading to her. Promise was thrilled the day she taught Heart to walk and relived the story to each of her patients the next morning. Little Heart grew quickly and soon she was on the verge of entering childhood. Promise and Mitch threw together a small party to celebrate their daughter’s birthday. Heart was ecstatic about the colorful cake and longed to blow out the candles, so she could gobble down a piece. When the time finally came, Heart tightly closed her eyes, made a wish; then BOOM…Heart grew into a playful, energetic child. Overnight, Promise thought, my baby grew up overnight.
Heart as a Child

Mitch carried his daughter to bed that night and returned to finish sipping tea with his wife. Promise was crying softly when he returned and Mitch was sure he knew what the problem was. Promise wanted another child, but they were having trouble conceiving. Mitch knew neither of them were getting any younger and time was limited. In fact, they had tried for the final time about a month ago and Mitch had a feeling he knew what the results of the latest pregnancy exam were. He sat down next to wife and slipped his arm around her shoulders; she turned to him and suddenly smiled.
“The doctor just phoned,” she began, “and told me, I’m pregnant.”
“Oh Honey!”
“That’s not all he said.”
“It’s not,” Mitch questioned.
“Nope, we’re going to have twins,” Promise announced.
