Rockabye Baby

Months began to fly rapidly by and Promise’s stomach began to expand. The stress of carrying twins forced her on an early maternity leave, but she welcomed the time off. Promise was grateful to have quality time at home with Heart and was finally able to catch up on some important reading she’d been putting off. Heart loved having her mother home and enjoyed feeling the babies kick inside her mother’s tummy. She was looking forward to being a big sister and hoped she would soon have new siblings to play with.

Mitch, on the other hand, was starting to feel the pressure of the impending births. He kept himself extremely busy with work and the building of a new addition to the house.

He hoped that keeping busy would push his fears out of his mind. He knew the life he had grown accustomed to would never be same with two more children. Mitch was worried about the family’s financial well being, the extra stress of having two babies to care for, and the loss of his freedom. The trapped feeling that accompanied the birth of Heart was again rushing to the surface and he began spending more time away from his family. His “friend” Ivy was more than willing to aid Mitch in relieving his pent up tension and after months of refusing to take their relationship to the next level, he finally gave in.

He returned home that night and slid into bed next to Promise. Mitch tried to close his eyes and forget the indiscretion he had committed, but found himself unable to sleep.
He crept out of bed around two in the morning and wandered into the kitchen for a cup of hot tea. As he sat down to sip his tea, he heard a scream from the bedroom. Mitch jumped up from his chair and ran into the next room, to find Promise clutching her stomach and moaning loudly.

He began to panic, when he realized his wife was in labor. As Promise continued to scream in pain, she beckoned Mitch to her side and grabbed his hand. She clutched and squeezed Mitch’s fingers, as she began to push. Hours passed and Promise continued to writhe in pain, she tried to breathe through each contraction, but exhaustion was starting to set in. Mitch wouldn’t let her give up, though; he goaded her into pushing one more time and soon he was holding a tiny, pink baby. Promise had little time to relax. She began to push once again and finally all the pain was gone.
Heart awoke that morning to find her parents sitting in the living room, each holding a baby wrapped in blue blankets. She skipped into the room and sat next to her mother on the couch.
“Meet your new brothers, Heart,” Promise whispered, “Blaze and Morris.”

Those are great boys names! I love them. This was a good update, everything is getting so dramatic.
