Birthdays, Part 1
Post in: A Legacy Story
Caring for twins was an adjustment for the entire Lord’s household, but Promise, Mitch and Heart were ready for the challenge. Blaze and Morris were kept on a strict routine of feedings, naps and baths; the schedule seemed to allow everyone stay organized and rested. Unfortunately, the routine came to an abrupt halt, once the twins entered toddler hood.
Heart loved her new brothers and played with them whenever she could, but she had homework to complete, chores to attend to, and friends to keep in touch with.

Promise encouraged her daughter to be active and playful, so she knew Heart would be unable to help her tackle many of the day-to-day chores involved with the twins. Promise didn’t mind the diaper changes, nighttime feeding, or crying, but she was beginning to get burned out. As the twin began to age, Mitch started taking over more of their care. Promise and Mitch loved there new sons and soon their tiny babies were no longer tiny nor babies. Blaze and Morris were now toddlers and much harder to handle.
Promise adored her precocious sons, but was becoming quite tiresome of their antics. For some unknown reason, Blaze loved playing in the toilet and delighted in making puddles on the bathroom floor. Morris was shier then his twin brother, but loved to follow family members around the house, causing them to trip over him when they turned around too quickly. Amidst all the “twin-time”, Promise was working diligently to prepare a birthday party for Heart. Her little princess was growing into a teenager and she was determined to give her the greatest party the Lord’s family had ever hosted.
Heart’s special day was drawing closer and closer, but Mitch and Promise were busy trying to teach Blaze and Morris to walk, talk and use the potty. Before Promise could blink, it was the night before Heart’s birthday. She had had so many wonderful plans; however, she had been sidetracked by the twins. Heart was going to have to settle for a small family party with a few balloons and homemade birthday cake.
The school bus came the next morning and whisked Heart away. Promise now had a few hours to finish decorating the house and baking a cake for Heart’s birthday. Mitch left work early that afternoon, so he could help Promise with the preparations for their daughter’s party. Promise was disappointed that her grand plan wasn’t going to materialize, but knew her daughter would still appreciate their hard work. The school bus pulled up to the cub, just as Promise was hanging the last streamer.
Heart opened the door and heard “Surprise”! She was taken aback and dropped her schoolbag to the floor. She never imagined her parents would decorate the entire house for her birthday and was elated that they had taken the time to do so. “Come Heart and blow out your candles,” Promise commanded. Heart did as her mother requested, and once Heart blew out the candles, she seemed to grow before their eyes.

Heart was no longer a child; she was now a young woman.

Great update. Heart is such a cute teen and those twins are trouble makers, I feel sorry for their parents.
