The Diary of Nina

I couldn’t stay at home any longer; I was getting tired of pacing my bedroom, waiting for Dina. Plus, I was miserable. I felt betrayed and confused, so I decided to head downtown to forget about my problems.

Unfortunately, sitting at the bar did little to improve my mood (honestly, I think it just made matters worse). I scoped the room, hoping to find Alan in the bar, but all I saw were the bright lights coming from the DJ booth. I’ve always been interested in “playing” with all the buttons on the booth, so I figured now would be the perfect time to try.

It was fun and I found myself smiling (the first time in several days). It felt good to just let all my cares fade away, but I couldn’t stay at the club forever. It was getting late and I needed to get home. I hopped into my car and sped down the interstate; my heart felt light and I was enjoying watching the sun set in the distance. (Maybe Dina and I could work things out.)
Then I pulled up to our house, diary and guess who was standing there?!?!

Yep, the slime ball himself was standing at our front door, waiting for me. He reached out and tried to kiss me, but I pulled away. (I just couldn’t believe that he was acting like nothing had happened.) I tried to confront him about the rumors I had heard, but he had an excuse for everything. At that moment, I knew he was lying and I knew he was dating Dina. For the first time, I think I finally saw who Don really was…a disgusting, womanizing pig.

I yelled at him and told him to leave my home. I never wanted to see him again. (I think he was quite shocked at my outburst; he probably figured I would believe any lie he told me.) I was so angry again (thank goodness Dina wasn’t home at that moment; I probably would have kicked her out right there.), so I picked up the phone and called Alan. (He can always relax me, diary.) We talked for a few minutes and he agreed to come to house for a casual visit.
I felt better the instant he rang the doorbell. We didn’t waste time with pleasantries; we just headed straight for the hot tub.

For the second time that day, I felt my worries melting away. Alan was good for me; he made me feel special and I was beginning to contemplate a serious, long-term relationship with him. I was completely enthralled with Alan and the conversation we were having about the new nightclub development, that I didn’t hear Dina’s carpool pull up. Once she was on the street, though, I heard her shouting. It was an odd conversation, especially since she was yelling at Mortimer. (Dina never yelled at Mr. Goth, he was her “meal ticket” after all.)

I was quite surprised by her actions; she’s never asked Mortimer to leave the house. (In fact diary, she’s always complaining that she doesn’t get to spend enough time with him.) Now, here she was, shooing him aside.

Apparently, Dina was tiring of Mortimer’s control of her. (I really can’t blame her.) She stormed into the house and went straight to her bedroom; Alan turned to me and asked if he should leave. I didn’t want him to, but thought it would be for the best (esp. since Dina and I needed to talk). I kissed him goodnight and then walked down the hall to Dina’s bedroom, diary. I stood at her door and knocked….
