The Ash Family, Growing Up and Out

Jonathon: I knew something like this was going to happen, I just wish I could have stopped it. I should have been able to stop it.

Natasha: Oh Jon, you can’t blame yourself, mom’s an adult; she makes her own decisions.

Jonathon: I know that, Tasha, but still…I should have done something. DA@#! I’m going for a run; I need to clear my mind.

Natasha: Oh goodness, I’m so sorry you had to hear all that, but I’m afraid Jon is really upset. Honestly, the entire family is pretty ticked off. It’s a long story, so I hope you are prepared. Well, the last time you visited, Jonathon told you about mom and Mr. Dupree (Zane). The two of them had been seeing quite a bit of each other lately and they were getting closer and closer…

Jon and I knew what was going on and we both had our predictions of what was going to happen. (Unfortunately, mine is coming true.) We both hoped that Zane would tired of seeing mom (he has a reputation for leaving women after a few months and never speaking to them again), but he seemed to be in this relationship for the long haul. Mom started inviting him to spend the night more often and she rarely tried to hide her relationship with him from us (that is a sure sign that she really likes a guy).

Everything in their world was going along swimmingly, but then mom started getting really sick. She was tired all the time and constantly running to the bathroom to vomit.

We were all crossing our fingers that mom had just come down with the flu (it can easily happen, since mom is a nurse). Well, her “sickness” lastest for weeks, with no signs of stopping, so mom went to the doctor to find out what was wrong. Yep, you guessed it…mom was PREGNANT!

She was in a stated of shock, so were Jonathon and I. We never imagined the possibility of having a little brother or sister to look after and I know mom had never thought about having another child. She didn’t know what to say us and kept to herself the next few weeks (I think she was trying to figure out how to break the news to Zane, too).

Zane kept calling the house, but mom never wanted to talk to him. Jonathon tried telling her that he had a right to know about his unborn child, but mom would shut the door in his face and return to crying on her bed. (We were all in a real sad state.)

The months began to pass slowly and mom was soon placed on maternity leave (she was having some minor health problems with the baby). Of course, now she couldn’t hide the fact that she was pregnant and she decided it was finally time to tell Zane. Jonathon and I were at school the day she decided to invite Zane over for a visit. When he got to the house and saw mom and her swollen belly, he was in shock.

Mom tried her best to smile and seem happy, as she told him about the baby, but her painted on smile soon faded away. Zane was outraged that mom was pregnant and was telling him that the baby was his. He screamed and yelled at her and accused her of trying to trap him into marriage.

Mom yelled right back that she had no intention of marrying him and that she just wanted him to know about his child; if he didn’t want to be part of the baby’s life that was fine with her. Zane sneered at mom one last time and told her to lose his phone number, then he stalked away. Jonathon and I ran from the school bus to console mom, but she wasn’t upset. (I think she knew this was what was going to happen.) She was just relieved that the entire situation was over and she now could concentrate on raising the baby.

So, that is why Jonathon is so upset, can you blame him. Mom’s belly is growing more and more everyday and we’ve never heard another word from Zane. (Which I think is a good thing.)

Oh, there have been some good things happening to our family, though. You can probably tell that I am much better spoken and no longer sound like a child. Well, that is because I had a birthday! (Yep, even in the midst of all this drama, Jonathon and mom planned a party for me.) Jon took care of most of the planning, since mom wasn’t feeling well. He bought a beautiful birthday cake, complete with candles and invited a bunch of kids from Glacier Bay High to help us celebrate.

They all gathered around me and cheered as I blew out the candles…then right before everyone’s eyes, I transformed into a teenager.

For the rest of the evening, all of us had a great time talking and dancing. It was fun getting to finally hang out with Jonathon’s friends and I was thrilled to finally get to meet Jon’s girlfriend. Her name is Ivy and they spent the entire evening dancing.

Aren’t they just the cutest couple?!?!

Jonathon: You’re still talking to them? I thought for sure you would be done by now.

Natasha: Well, it was a long story…oh goodness what happened to your face?!?!

Jonathon: Oh its nothing, I just ran into Christian Dupree while I was out running.

Natasha: And what, you just had to hit him? You know better than to start fights.

Jonathon: He was asking for it and you know it. Plus, I just put him into a headlock, nothing serious.

Natasha: Oh fine, there’s no point in arguing with you, but at least let me put some disinfectant on the cuts.

Jonathon: All right, if it will make you happy.

Natasha: Well, it was nice talking to you, but I have to go and knock some sense into my brother. Hope you will join the Ash family again…maybe next time there will be a new face in the Ash house. Bye, Bye.

Wen, Natasha’s eyelashes are from Helaene, in fact, Natasha was made by Helaene and can be found on MTS2. (Look for Ginny Weasley.)
