Gypsy Rose
Parenthood, Pt. 2
Roslynn couldn’t sleep, the little baby growing inside her tummy kept reminding her that the due date was growing closer. “You can stop kicking my rib cage, little one,” Roslynn murmured to herself. “I haven’t forgotten about you.”
Thomas shifted in bed, as Roslynn slowly crept to the bathroom, she just couldn’t fall back to sleep. The sharp jabs she felt in her stomach weren’t subsiding and she hoped a hot bath would help calm them. As the warm water washed over her, she closed her eyes and tried to relax. So much was happening and she was beginning to feel a bit overwhelmed. She was certainly happy, how could she not be, her family was beautiful, healthy and growing. Work was going great for both Thomas and her, but life was a bit too perfect (at least that is how Roslynn felt). The cloudy haze of sleep lingered in her head and her breathing slowed…suddenly, a sharp jab sent her reeling. The baby was coming!
Roslynn quickly dried off and threw on some clothes, she decided to take a short walk to help ease some of the pain, but she didn’t make far…
She was in full blown labor! She breathed deeply through each sharp contraction and soon she was holding her new baby.
Roslynn had given birth to a beautiful baby girl. She was thrilled that she had a daughter and decided to name her after the first gypsy in the Malory family, Anastasia.
“My precious daughter,” Roslynn cooed, “I will always love you.”
