Gypsy Rose
Wedding Bells and Screams

The months of Roslynn’s pregnancy were passing quickly and her delivery date was getting close. Thomas wanted to be married before the baby was born, but they were both very busy with work and getting the house ready for the new arrival; it seemed that there would never be a good time for a wedding.

As the final weeks arrived, Roslynn was placed on maternity leave and she finally had some spare time to herself. She understood Thomas’s wishes to be married and wanted to make them come true, so she started planning a small, private ceremony for the two of them. That night, under the stars, she surprised him with an impromptu wedding.

There was nothing fancy about the celebration, but both Thomas and Roslynn were happy; they just wanted to be declared husband and wife. Once the ceremony was complete, Roslynn headed to bed, she wasn’t feeling up to a big party and Thomas wanted her to take care of herself (he didn’t need guests and cake).

Late that evening, Roslynn awoke with sharp pains in her stomach (apparently, they had married in the nick of time) and she knew immediately that the baby was coming…

Thomas tried his best to stay calm and help Roslynn through the labor; considering it was their first child, both did an amazing job. It wasn’t long after the pains started, that Roslynn gave birth to a beautiful baby boy.

She was in awe of how tiny and adorable he was with his striking blue eyes and dark eyebrows. She decided to name him Anthony, after her favorite ancestor.

Changes All Ready

There were walls surrounding the Malory home for the first time, Roslynn was quickly climbing up the political ladder (she had recently been promoted to campaign manager) and Thomas’s restaurant was booming; things were finally looking up. Roslynn was truly happy with the way her life was progressing and she was ready to share the happiness news of all with Thomas, she was pregnant…

She certainly couldn’t hide her growing belly anymore and she had hated keeping such a big secret from the man she loved, but she had been afraid. They had never discussed having children and she wasn’t sure how he would react to the news. The time had come, though, she had to be honest with him, if she ever hoped to marry him.

“Thomas”

As the months passed, Roslynn remained jaded and confused. She didn’t feel safe in her home anymore and was contemplating packing up her belongings. Unfortunately, she had no safety net to run to; since, she had left the gypsy band, they wouldn’t welcome her back. Roslynn turned her back on their lifestyle and she was now an outsider. She had no other friends that she could turn to, so she was stuck. She had to tough it out in Cedar Ridge.

MisFortune

The air was heavy with the sweet smell of promised rain, it had been weeks since Cedar Ridge had had a good thunderstorm. Roslynn lay tossing and turning in her tiny, twin bed; she couldn’t get comfortable. Her mind was plagued, but she didn’t understand why. She’d gotten her promotion at work (Roslynn was now an intern in the mayor’s office) and her personal life was chugging along. Thomas (the mysterious dark haired man at club “Rogue”) had called her several times over the last few weeks and she was enjoying their friendly banter immensely.

Why am I so restless, Roslynn thought to herself, my life is stable for the first time and I am happy. I shouldn’t have any nagging feelings, but there is something wrong…

Behind a hydrangea bush, a set of ice cold eyes watched Roslynn’s front door with unnerving concentration. The time had come to make his move, the house was quiet and he knew the owner was sound asleep by this time of night (he had her schedule ingrained in his mind). Soundlessly, he crept to the front door…

General Information about “Gypsy Rose”

Before I write too much more about my legacy founder, I just wanted to state that I didn’t come up the character name (or some of the background story). I read a terrific series by Johanna Lindsey that inspired me to create a legacy story about a decendant of the “Malory Clan”, so all the history about the great, great, great, great, great grandparents can be found in her books.
