Gypsy RoseTony’s Tale, Pt. 3
“How could she do this,” Roslynn’s voice cut shrilly through the phone. “She has so much potential and she is throwing it all away.”
“Mom,” Tony said sighing heavily, “what exactly are you talking about.”
“Don’t patronize me, Tony,” Roslynn said shortly, “I know Anna called you first and told you about her marriage to Ramin. I just can’t believe you didn’t have the decency to call your father and I. If we’d known sooner, we may have been able to put a stop to everything.”
“Mother, there was nothing any of us could have done,” Tony said, with anger rising in his voice. “Once Anna puts her mind to something, there is no talking her out it.”
“But why didn’t you call and tell us what was going on with her,” Roslynn said, with tears in her voice.
“It wasn’t my place,” Tony said, leaning against a wall in his room. “Anna asked me to keep the news quiet, until she had time to tell you guys herself.”
“You should have broken that promise,” Roslynn scolded.
“Mom, stop,” Tony said exasperated, “I know you are angry, but I didn’t do anything wrong. I didn’t tell Anna to marry Ramin.”
“I know,” Roslynn said quietly. “I’m frustrated and Anna won’t listen to reason, she thinks her marriage is going to work out happily and they are going to have the perfect life; no one has the perfect life.”
“She’s happy and that is all that should matter.”
“Oh Tony,” Roslynn said, with sadness in her voice, “I know she thinks she is happy, but she’s given up her dreams for him. What will happen when she becomes bored and wants to go back to college? Do you really think Ramin will be supportive in that endeavor?”
“I honestly don’t know,” Tony said, “but it sounds as if you’ve decided he won’t be.”
“Of course he won’t,” Roslynn said, breathing heavily. “He won’t want to lose his personal maid and cook at home and what if she gets pregnant, then she’ll never get to go back to school.”
“Maybe that’s all she wants,” Tony replied. “Maybe all she wants is a family to care for and love, did you think of that?”
“Your sister was meant for more,” Roslynn said firmly, “and she has given all of it up for someone she barely knows.”
“Mom,” Tony said, as he rubbed his throbbing head, “I’m tired and I have plans tonight. I can’t stay on the phone any longer discussing Anna’s marriage and lack of direction.”
“Tony, just promise me you are going to finish college,” Roslynn said with a hint of panic in her voice. “I couldn’t handle two of my children dropping out of school.”
“Don’t worry,” Tony sighed, “I’ve put a lot of work into school and I don’t plan on leaving until I’ve finished all my studying. Now mom, I really have to get going. I promise I’ll call sometime tomorrow and we can continue picking apart Anna’s life.”
“Your a terrific son,” Roslynn said, pride filling her, “I don’t know how I got so lucky.”
“You raised me right,” said Tony, heading towards the phone’s cradle, “and I promise I’ll call you tomorrow. Love you.”
“I love you, too. Have a great night and behave.”
“You know I will, night mom,” Tony said, placing the phone heavily into the cradle. He stared at the device for a few seconds and let out a deep sigh. The hallway clock ticked away the minutes, he glanced sideways at it and gasped; he was late for his biggest date with Dagmar.

Now how will Rosslyn react to that news? Let’s just hope these two kids will wait long enough for Tony to finish school!
Awwww how sweet but what about mom? I guess he better graduate from college or he’ll disappoint Roslyn like his sister did.
Wow, I’m interested to see the interaction between Anna and her mother when they talk about her recent decisions or lack of (as far as Ros is concerned). haha And whoo hooo! A big date with Dagmar! That should be really sweet too.
Wow, their mom is really upset about Anna getting married. I understand why, but doesn’t she realize that Anna has to live her own life? Go, Tony! Tony & Dagmar, sitting in a tree . . .
Awwww YAY for Tony & Dagmar,
Eek for Anna & Ramin. I’m scared for Anna when she next meets her mum!
I understand why Roslynn is upset with Tony for not telling her, but she really shouldn’t browbeat him for it either. It wasn’t his secret to tell. And she certainly shouldn’t tell Tony he should have broken his promise to his sister. If he’d done that, then I can guarantee you Anna would never go to Tony with anything again! Roslynn needs to come to terms that just because SHE believes Anna was meant for something more doesn’t mean that what Anna has isn’t exactly what she wanted. (Considering that’s a conversation MY mom and I have repeatedly, I’m gonna side with Anna on this one!) I just hope Anna has made the right decision and will be happy with Ramin. Heh, Tony is definitely laying on the charm big time there, ain’t he! Poor Tony. He looks SO NERVOUS! He shouldn’t. Just look at the excitement on Dagmar’s face.
I love your closing shot.
LOL - yeah, Tony looks like he’s sweating bullets there! Of course Dagmar said yes - who could resist?! Yes, I fear Anna is going to have her hands full with Roslynn. Maybe mom will come around once the grandkids start arriving!
Oh yay! What a sweet proposal! I thought it was so funny how Dagmar had that woman’s intuition that something big was about to happen! I loved it! And as for the whole Ros situation, I’m still not sure if it’s true love…or if he married her to get his hands on the money! I’m scared that she’s being tricked! I guess I’m a worry-wart like her mother! Hehehe. Great update!
