Gypsy Rose“The Boys”, Pt. 2
“Anna, I don’t know what else to do with him,” Tony said into the phone, “I’ve tried everything I can think of to get him to listen, but he won’t. He’s not going to change until it’s too late.”
“You’ve done your best, Tony. You can’t to anymore for him. He has to work this out on his own.”
“I can’t just sit back and let him ruin his future. He needs guidance and that’s what an older brother is supposed to provide.”
“And you have, but now you have to step back and let him live his own life. It’s time for you to stop being his older brother and start being his friend. Give him support and understanding and stop harping on him all the time. Not all of us are going to have your work ethic or your goals in life; you have to realize that.”
“Cutting a little deep there, sis,” Tony sighed. “I just want him to succeed.”
“No, you want him to be like you, but he isn’t and neither am I. Derek has to choose his own path to happiness and you may not like the decisions he makes, but that’s just too bad.”
“You’re right, I know you’re right, but I don’t like it. He is a slacker and he thinks he can get away with conning people around him into doing his work for him.”
“Your sure about, your sure that he hasn’t worked out something with his professors? Maybe he is doing an out of class assignment to make up for the time he missed, maybe he is trying to put everything right.”
“I think he’d tell me something like, just to get me to shut up.”
“Tony, he doesn’t feel he can talk to you. You need to cut him some slack and let him figure out his own way. You can’t protect us forever.”
“Us,” Tony said, “you think I’m trying to protect you, too.”
“Not directly, but I think you are trying to put Derek on the path you wanted for me. I’ve made my decisions and I am happy with my life, so stop punishing our younger brother for my choices.”
“How did you get so insightful?”
“It’s the curse of being a Malory woman and being pregnant. So, your going to stop trying to box in Derek and start giving him a friend to talk to.”
“I’m going to try, it’s not going to be easy, but I will give it my best shot. Thanks sis, I appreciate you listening and your advice.”
“Anytime big bro, I love being able to tell you your wrong.”
“Ha, ha, very funny. I love you, Anna and I am happy for you.”
“You can’t say stuff like that to a pregnant woman,” Anna said sniffling, “your going to make me cry.”
“Call it pay back, for telling me I was wrong. I’d better get going, though, Derek should be home soon and I have a lot of apologizing to do. I’ll call you next week.”
“All right, I’m glad I could help and remember, just be his friend.”
“Okay, night sis.”
“Night.”

I’m glad the boys have worked things out between them. Hopefully their parents can work out their issues with Anna as well.
I’m so glad they have smoothed things over. Derek does need a good relationship with Tony. Now, just to get things sorted out with Anna.
Excellent! Sophie’s a very smart girl there! I’m glad the brothers have worked out their differences. And I can’t wait to see Anna’s growing family too!
I’m hooked! I came to your site via SimScibes this afternoon, and I’ve been reading ever since. I stopped to put my toddler to bed, but that was about it!
Is Komei going to come back and create more drama? I hope not — I could send a couple of *huge* sims over to sort him out
You’ve inspired me to start my own sims blog — I’m going to start on it as soon as I’ve finished online.
Damn, that boy really thinks he’s a smooth talker, doesn’t he. *scowls at Derek* Good for Sophie, for telling him his pick-up is a bit worn. He took that better than I thought he would though. Tony’s words had a big impact on you because he was RIGHT, Derek. I’m glad to see that Tony’s talking to Anna about Derek and it sounds like she’s giving him so good advice. I just hope he listens to it. He’s done the best he can with his brother and now he needs to let him make his own mistakes. Haha! “I love being able to tell you your wrong.” Great line! Sounds like Sophie could wind up being a good friend for Derek. And if he should be lucky enough to someday win the heart of a girl who’s head is already on so straight, he should count his lucky stars.
HAHAHA!! “…you need to stop thinking everyone in the world is out to get you. Your not that important.” Beautiful! *giggle* I’m glad to see they were both big enough to apologize to the other one. But why do I suspect Derek would rather talk about Sophia than Tuulia. *grins knowingly*
